Abdulbasit Amin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (FBMS), College of Health Sciences, University of Ilorin. He joined the University in 2014 and has since accumulated significant experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. Over the years, he has served in various academic and administrative roles within his department, the faculty, and as a representative of FBMS at other faculties across the university.

His research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience, metabolism, and host-pathogen interactions. He has published over 50 scholarly articles in reputable journals, which have attracted extensive citations and contributed to advancing knowledge in his fields of interest. Dr. Amin has received numerous research grants, fellowships, and travel awards from prestigious organizations including the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), The Physiological Society (UK), the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO), TReND in Africa, and the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).

The long-term goal of his research is to leverage insights from host-pathogen interactions to develop novel therapeutic strategies for both pathogen-driven and independent human disorders, with particular emphasis on neurodegenerative and metabolic diseases.
